In 2001, Les Mousquetaires established a code of good conduct based on the convention of the International Labour Organisation, the SA 8000 social responsibility standard and the European directive relating to the protection of young workers. This code deals with the age of starting work, forced labour, working hours, remuneration, living conditions and the prevention of fire risks.

Since 2002, this code has been incorporated into all non-food purchasing contracts with suppliers in Asia.
Les Mousquetaires undertake to ensure that all their suppliers in Asia sign this code, not to work with a supplier who refuses to sign it, and to set up verification systems for the code.
Since 2004, a large programme of social audits has been launched of all the Indian, Chinese and Bangladeshi suppliers.
